At what age should my child first visit a dentist in Lithia, FL?

Dr. Wareham agrees with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) and recommends beginning to see children for their first dental visit around age 1, or when their first teeth erupt. While this may seem early to parents, these first visits help us build positive rapport with your child and get them acclimated and comfortable in the dental chair, which sets them up for successful visits in the future.

What to Expect at the First Dental Visit

During your child's first dental visit, also called a "happy visit," we'll count their teeth and check their overall oral health. This is a great time for parents to get their questions about their child's oral health answered.

Early visits also allow Dr. Wareham to begin monitoring your child's oral development. This allows him to make parents aware of any concerns before they become more significant problems, when they're still easier to treat.
